1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Office Hours Stories ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Office Hours Stories mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. Your name, email address and password, or an identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google if you use those options.
Age and identity verification. Your self-declared date of birth, and, where required, a government-issued ID document (national ID, driving license or passport) that you submit for age verification. Documents are stored on a private, access-restricted disk and are only viewed by authorized reviewers for the purpose of confirming you are 18 or older.
Profile information. An optional profile photo and any other profile details you choose to add.
Conversation content. Messages you exchange with AI Characters in the App, so we can generate responses, maintain conversation history, and operate features like reactions and reputation scoring.
Purchase and transaction data. Records of Office Points and Season Pass purchases, including the platform (Apple or Google), a platform transaction identifier, and the amount charged. We do not receive or store your card details -- those are handled entirely by Apple or Google.
Spending-limit preferences. Any daily or weekly spending limits you set, and your spending history against those limits.
Support requests. Information you submit through the Contact form, including your name, email and message.
Device and usage data. Technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and general usage patterns (e.g. features used, session activity), collected to keep the App reliable and to understand how it's used.
3. How We Use Your Information
To create and maintain your account and authenticate you;
To verify your age and enforce the App's 18+ eligibility requirement;
To generate Character responses and personalize your experience within the App;
To process purchases, maintain your Office Points balance, and enforce spending limits you've set;
To respond to support and contact requests;
To detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms and Conditions;
To maintain, secure, debug and improve the App.
4. AI Processing and Third-Party Service Providers
To generate Character dialogue, your messages are processed by third-party AI service providers under contractual terms that restrict their use of your data to providing the service to us. We also use third-party providers for functions such as cloud hosting, error/crash monitoring, and email delivery. These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
5. Payments
All purchases are billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies govern the payment information you provide to them; we only receive confirmation of the purchase (platform, product, transaction ID and amount), not your card details.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with: (a) the service providers described above, strictly to operate the App; (b) Apple or Google, as needed to process purchases and verify entitlements; (c) law enforcement or regulators where required by law, to protect our rights, or to prevent harm; and (d) a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to the same protections described in this Policy.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and conversation data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Age-verification documents are retained only as long as necessary to confirm eligibility and to meet legal record-keeping requirements, then deleted or anonymized. You may request earlier deletion as described in Section 9.
8. Data Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including access-restricted storage for identity documents and encryption of data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your profile and delete your account directly in the App, or contact us using the details in Section 13 to exercise any of these rights.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is restricted to users who are 18 years of age or older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it and terminate the associated account.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect information transferred internationally.
12. Analytics and Similar Technologies
The App uses analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand app performance and usage. These tools may use device identifiers or similar technologies rather than browser cookies, since the App is a native mobile application rather than a website.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the App or by email, stating the effective date. Continuing to use the App after that date means you accept the revised Policy.
